7 Harsh Truths About Success

1. Success doesn’t care about you or how much time you put in.

A lot of people feel as if they are obligated to success because they put in a lot of time. They feel as if hard work alone will get them to the top. Don’t get me wrong, hard work is required, however hard work alone will not get you where you need to be.

There are thousands of people who spend their entire life working hard, however majority of them die without having achieved anything major.

So stop whining about how much time you are putting in, it’s all about the results.

You’re just wasting your time if you are not producing results.

Hence, instead of working harder, you need to work smarter.

Follow the 80/20 rule.

The 80/20 rule states that 80 percent of your outcomes come from 20 percent of your inputs.

As a result, focus on the tasks that produce eighty percent of your results.

2. The conventional path leads to mediocrity.

The conventional path is the path that almost everyone follows…

Go to school, study hard, get a good job, retire, die.

As you can see, there is no room for major success if you follow the conventional path.

If you want to make it big, you have to follow the unconventional path, the path that hardly anyone ever takes, the path that your heart is telling you to follow, the path that the mediocre shun and label impossible. That’s the path that you need to take because that’s the path that will lead to enormous success.

If you’re doing what everyone else is doing, you’re going to get what everyone else gets, a mediocre life.

If you are unique and you go against the grain, you will get greatness in return.

3. The mediocre will try to keep you from pursuing your dreams.

Take advice from ordinary people with ordinary dreams and you too will become ordinary.

Take advice from great people and you will become great.

You have to realize that you pose a threat to the mediocre. When you try to do the impossible, they become insecure because your successes remind them of their failures. As a result, they will try to get you to stop pursuing your dreams. They will try to make you doubt yourself. They will try to make you give in to fear. However, you need to avoid this trap that far too many people have fallen victim to. You do that by never taking advice from mediocre people.

I’m serious, pay no attention to what they say, let their words go in one ear and out the other.

4. You only got yourself.

Success is a game played by one main character, that main character is you.

Sure, you have people around you who support you on your journey, but at the end of the day, the only person you have is yourself.

You are your only support system.

Success is a lonely road.

When you’re chasing big dreams, you’re going to feel as if no one sees your vision, you’re going to feel as if you are a rare breed, and you’re going to feel as if you’re going up against the world. That’s how it will seem.

Your parents, your girlfriend, your friends, and your relatives will doubt you. They will question your dreams and they will make you feel even lonelier, however you need to weather the storm.

You need to do it by yourself and for yourself.

There are going to be days when you feel like throwing in the white towel. There are going to be days when life will have you on your knees, begging.

But you need to get through these days because on the other side is where success resides.

5. Before you can have everything, you have to sacrifice something.

The reason why a lot of people want to be successful is because success grants freedom.

The freedom to do what you want, when you want.

However, before you can acquire major freedom, you first have to sacrifice the little bit of freedom you currently have.

At the beginning, you cannot have everything.

You have to make a choice, either you pursue your dreams, or you party, watch TV, hang out with friends etc.

A choice needs to be made.

If you want to succeed, you have to sacrifice everything for your dream. You cannot succeed by only going hard when you feel like it.

Instead, you have to buckle down and work every single day.

If you sacrifice your freedom in the early days and only devote your time to your dreams, you’ll receive an endless amount of freedom in return down the line.

6. It’s going to get harder before it gets easier.

At first, success is an uphill battle.

Eventually, it will get easier.

So keep your faith alive and continue to fight.

7. It’s going to take everything out of you, but it will be worth it.

Success is going to take everything you got. It’s going to take blood, sweat, and tears.

Don’t think that you can succeed without paying the price.

Everything has a price and success is no exception.

However, the price you pay for success will be well worth your while.
