There are two types of people in this world. One group consists of those who move forward freely and the other group consists of people who are trying to move forward however there’s this huge force which is pushing them back. When they take three steps forward, the force pushes them four steps back.
Hence it’s no surprise why some people go on to succeed, whereas others just go around in circles. Either you’re taking off with friction on your side or with it against you.
Think about a rocket, when a rocket shoots off, it has to beat the friction which is driving it down. Some people are in this exact same position. Unfortunately they do not have the power of a rocket and hence get pushed down.
On the other hand, some folks have everything in alignment and there’s absolutely nothing holding them back. They conquer freely and they move mountains, this is where you need to be if you aren’t in this position already.
Before you can reach this state, you first have to come to terms with the things that are holding you back so let’s get to it.
1. Unimportant goals
“People are not lazy, they simply have impotent goals…that is…goals that do not inspire them.” – Anthony Robbins
Your goals should motivate you, your goals should excite you, your goals should fuel you with passion. If this is not the case, you are at a huge disadvantage. If you’re not waking up eager to achieve, you are not pursuing the right goals in life.
A lot of people are chasing someone else’s dreams and goals.
If you find yourself to be in this position, realize friction will always be up against you. If you aren’t passionate and if you aren’t inspired by your goals, you need some new goals. Otherwise success is going to be very hard to come by.
Success is achieved more readily if you wake up excited and ready to conquer. So if your goals are the problem, come up with new ones.
2. Negative emotions
Fear, anger, resentment, jealously, whatever it is…these emotions are holding you back.
They are keeping you from reaching your full potential.
Alluding back to our rocket analogy, these negative emotions are a leading cause in the friction that is being created which in return holds you back.
If you find yourself filled with resentment, realize the best thing to do is to forgive.
Forgive easily because when you forgive, you are free. So many of us hang on to things we shouldn’t be hanging on to because they are robbing us of positive emotions. If this sounds like you, take a deep breath and let go.
Whatever you focus on expands.
If you focus on creating a mediocre life, you will create a mediocre life.
If you focus on creating an extraordinary life, you will create an extraordinary life.
A lot of people are being held back due to their standards. By aiming low, they earn low and hence they are never fulfilled.
You need to expand your horizons and extend your reach. Stop settling for the easy route, instead raise your standards and challenge yourself.
Stop being a coward.
Be bold and take calculated risks.
Some folks try to achieve success, however at the same time they believe they do not deserve it and hence tell themselves they are not good enough to succeed. Can you imagine how hard it would be to succeed if you were in these peeps shoes? Unfortunately a lot of people feel as if they are not good enough. They feel as if they are not built to succeed. When they see successful people, they think they are special and they are the rare ones. However, the successful are no different from me and you. The only thing that distinguishes them from the masses is they believed and they never stopped.
Do away with your insecurities because YOU ARE good enough and YOU ARE capable of succeeding in whichever endeavor you pursue. You simply have to believe.
5. Your reality
The way you view the world determines a lot.
If you have a crappy reality, your future will also be crappy.
Your perspective is everything; your reaction to the events of your life is everything.
Create an enriched and vibrant reality.
You control your reality since your reality is created by your thoughts and viewpoints. If you view this world to be one big opportunity, it will be. However if you view it to be one crappy place filled with morons, it will become a crappy place filled with morons.
Everyone sees the world differently. Therefore your viewpoint determines if you fly or if you fall.
If you cannot make decisions on your own, you are not fit to succeed.
I’ve come across a lot of people who ask for advice regarding matters that are crucial to their future. You need to look within you and come up with the answers, stop looking externally. This is your life and you need to be the one who is calling the shots.
You need to be bold and you need to be firm. Once you make a decision, stick with it.
7. Lack of commitment
In my eyes, one of the leading reasons explaining why people don’t succeed is because they are not committed. So many people go from one endeavor to another without giving their full fledged effort. There’s no way in hell you are going to succeed if this is your approach.
Success demands singleness of purpose. Once you know what you want to achieve, stick to it. Don’t give up. Lock in and forget about everything else.
Commit yourself fully, 100% which in return will eliminate all your doubts.
If you never commit, you’ll never see success.
Well there you have it, seven possible reasons explaining why you are not where you should be in life. If you found an explanation above which fits you, it’s time for you to make a change. It’s vital you do so because you can only fly freely and become all that you can be after you eliminate the friction that is holding you back.
