The process you will undergo when chasing your dreams will obviously differ from the next person because chances are your end goal is much different from others, however you are bound to run into the same challenges. Hence, it doesn’t really matter what dream you are chasing because the things you will encounter when chasing success will be very similar to those who have come before you and to those who will come after you.

As a result, below I present to you seven tips to keep in the back of your mind when you are pursuing your dreams.

1. It Gets Hard, Before It Gets Easy

When you are first starting out, things are going to be rough. It’s not going to be a walk in the park. Instead you’re going to have to earn everything you get. In the early days, a lot of people are not prepared to do what is necessary of them to succeed and therefore they let the tough times get to them.

You, however need to do whatever you must in order to get through the difficult times in the beginning. It will get easier. Remember this.

Everyone must struggle. We all struggle. Some struggle more than others, but struggle is common to all of us nonetheless. Therefore you need to embrace this struggle and let it build character instead of letting it destroy you.

Realize that the struggle is apart of the process and do what you have to do in order to make it to the other side.

2. People Will Doubt You (Including Your Loved Ones)

People will look at you like you’re crazy when you tell them about your dreams. I recommend that you keep your dreams to yourself, however some peeps are bound to find out.

When they do, they will laugh at you, criticize you, and do a ton of other stuff in an attempt to get you to stop. You, however cannot stop.

Instead you should let the hatred fuel you with motivation.

Prove everyone wrong. I don’t care about your circumstances, I don’t care about your past, your future is what it’s all about.

If you want something, go out and get it.

It doesn’t matter if your mother doesn’t believe in you, or if your wife/husband doesn’t believe in you. All this is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is if you believe in yourself because that’s all you need in order to succeed.

3. Don’t Get Blinded By Shiny Objects

What I mean by this is quite simple, when some people achieve some basic level of success, they let this feeling of accomplishment lead them to being satisfied. However, things never stay the same forever. As a result they are bound to diminish sooner or later.

It’s OK to celebrate your successes, but never lose sight of the big picture. Don’t stop after you have successfully climbed one stair, when your dream is to climb the entire staircase.

In addition, distractions are everywhere. They may seem appealing now, but they will rob you of your future. These distractions also qualify as shiny objects. For example, partying, playing video games, watching movies etc. are all shiny objects. There’s a time and a place for everything, but you need to limit the distractions.

Think long term and don’t get blinded by short term gratification.

Keep your eyes on the prize and not on the glow that is shining from distractions.

4. Your Why

Why are you doing what you are doing?

Keep the WHY in the back of your mind at all times. Your why is the reason behind your actions. Your why is the answer to why you are chasing your dreams. Your why should motivate you. Your why will keep you on the path of success when things get tough.

5. Your Reaction To Failure Determines The Height Of Your Success

We all fail in life in one way or another. However the way you react to your failures determines a lot. It determines first and foremost if you will go on to see better days. The worse thing you can do when you fail is stop because by doing so you let your entire life get characterized with a sense of failure. Instead you need to overcome the obstacle and continue the fight. If you stop, you’re done. Your dreams are gone. But if you fight on, your dreams are still alive.

Don’t let the flame go out. Keep your dreams inside you burning passionately. Never surrender.

6. The Road Will Be A Bumpy One

Don’t expect to succeed right off the bat. Like I said, you have to struggle before you see success.

However, if you hit rock bottom, don’t get discouraged.

If you can look up, you can get up.

As long as you continue to move forward, you will eventually unlock the door which will transform your dreams into reality.

Also, you need to realize that patience is a must. Don’t expect to succeed overnight. This is why it’s so important to think long term. This is why you truly need to find a dream that you want to achieve because it takes awhile.

In today’s world we have been conditioned to find the quick solution. For instance, there’s a million and one products out there on the market that guarantee quick and easy weight loss. But, there is no real quick and easy solution.

As a result, you need to stick to your craft. Don’t be so quick to throw in the towel. Have faith and believe.

7. The End Will Be Worth It

The end, your final destination, your dream life, the life that you want to live oh so badly will definitely be worth it. When you wake up knowing you had the guts to not only chase your dreams, but to make them a reality, you will be filled with a feeling that is very tough to describe. You’ll be fulfilled to say the least. From that day on, you’ll view the world in a different light. You’ll feel as if you can conquer it all and you can and hence you will.

When times get tough, always focus on the end. Always think about what you are trying to do and what the end result looks like. This should motivate you to keep pushing on.
