Life is characterized with change. Everyday is not the same. Some days are good where as some days are horrible. On the path to success, you will experience it all. Some days you will feel on top of the world, whereas other days you will feel as if you are residing underground. It truly works like that. This doesn’t even have to do with success. This is life period. Ups and downs. Smiles and frowns.
The downs give rise to the ups by strengthening your character. That is the reason why the downs are necessary. After all, the sun wouldn’t feel so special if it wasn’t for rain.
The same is true for your life. If you never have bad days, you won’t enjoy your good days to the utmost degree. Therefore the good and the bad are necessary and hence they make up life.
Now that is life in general. But what about the road to success? Well the ups and downs apply to success more than anything. When you’re chasing your dreams you are going to be dealt with the good and the bad and everything in between. Claiming success ain’t no easy task. Therefore there are going to be times when you are going to feel like giving up, it’s OK to feel like this. In fact it’s absolutely normal. Even the successful feel this, however the successful and the unsuccessful make two very distinct choices. The successful decide to adapt and continue on whereas the unsuccessful throw in the white towel and return back to mediocrity.
With that stated, adapting is the key to success. The reason for this is simple.
It’s like a game.
You have a dream. You want to accomplish this dream. However along your path you will be dealt with obstacles that you will need to overcome in order to claim your dream. This is where adapting comes into play. For instance view success as a destination. Pretend your in a car and your driving towards your destination which is success. However the road you were planning on taking is closed. Therefore you will need to find an alternative path.
This is exactly how it’s going to be. However the unsuccessful quit instead of finding that new road. On the other hand the successful get right back up, brush themselves off, make the necessary changes, and find an alternative route to their destination.
This can all be summed up in the following…
“I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.”
That quote explains it perfectly. Life is life. It’s going to always throw some horrible things at you. This is a fact and something you cannot do much about, however how you react to the events of your life determine whether or not you go on to succeed. You can give up or you can simply adapt. You can deal with the problem head on and tackle it or you can be a wuss and get beaten by it.
The choice is yours.
Always remember though, where there’s a will there’s a way…you just have to find it.
