How To Know If You Are On The Right Track

Success is a destination that we all want to reach, however there are no established directions that we can all follow.

One person’s success is another person’s failure.

This is the beauty and this is the curse of success.

Since there is no set path, we can all take different roads and still reach success.

However, since there are so many paths that lead to success and failure, it’s tough knowing if you are on the right track or not.

Some feel as if they are going somewhere, whereas others feel as if they are just going in circles.

As a result, below are some questions you should consider answering as your answers will grant you some insight on whether or not you are travelling down the right road.

1. Do you act in spite of fear?

The road to success is characterized by fear.

When you are chasing success, you are going to feel fear.

Heck, if you aren’t feeling fear that means that what you are chasing is not worth pursuing. It means your standards are too low and you are taking the safe route.

Your dream should scare you at the mere thought of you accomplishing it one day.

If your dream doesn’t install fear in your heart, your dream is not big enough.

Fear is an emotion that should tell you that you are on the right track.

When you feel fear, act.

Don’t become paralyzed. A sure way to reach mediocrity is by letting fear control your life. If you are living a fear free life, you’re not going to get anywhere worth going.

You should feel fear, each and every day. Let this be a test. If you aren’t feeling fear, you need to put yourself in a state of discomfort.

This in return brings us to the next question…

2. Do you feel uncomfortable?

Success is found on the edge of your comfort zone.

Success is not going to come to you; you must get off your ass and go to it.

If your work isn’t making you feel uncomfortable, you’re not working on the right things.

You know those big, daunting tasks on your to do list that you always avoid? Well those are the things that you need to be doing.

If you’re going after those big, daunting tasks, you are on the right track.

Success isn’t easy to capture, you have to be willing to do what you would normally not do. You have to be willing to stretch your boundaries. Average people never become great because they have fallen in love with being comfortable.

Comfort will rob you of success.

Hence a rule of thumb to follow is to always take the path that offers the greatest resistance. When you find yourself to be at a fork in the road, take the more difficult route as it will make you feel uncomfortable and by feeling uncomfortable you will achieve far more than you would have if you had opted for the safe route.

3. Are people telling you to call it quits?

If people aren’t looking at you like you’re crazy when you tell them your dream, your dream isn’t big enough.

You aren’t doing shit if people do not doubt you, criticize you, and/or hate you.

Haters hate because you are doing better than them.

People criticize when they feel threatened of your success/potential.

People doubt you in an attempt to get you to stop pursuing your dream because they are scared that you may actually achieve it.

Hence if you aren’t receiving any of these reactions, you simply aren’t doing enough.

I’ll go as far as saying that the amount of haters you have is positively related to the amount of success you accumulate in life. The more success you achieve, the more haters you will acquire. For instance, how many haters does your co-worker Tony from Accounting have? Now, how many haters does Donald Trump have?

You get the point.

Simply put, haters come when you make the big splashes in life. If you aren’t doing anything major, no one will hate you because you are not a threat to them.

Hence, having haters is a good thing.

You need to become a threat so make your big splash.

4. Are you excited to work when you wake up in the morning?

Passion and love for your craft is required.

If you love what you do, you will be able to weather the storm.

Let’s face it, success is no walk in the park. It’s going to get hard before it gets easier and the only way to make it through the tough days is by loving what you do.

5. Work or party?

You know you are on the right track when you would rather spend hours perfecting your craft than out partying, watching TV, or doing some other petty activity.

When you begin to associate yourself with your work, that’s when you will become successful.

You and your work need to become one.

The great ones become great by characterizing their entire life with their craft.

Do you think Michael Jackson became the greatest entertainer of all time by going hard only when he felt like it? Nah. This man spent every single day perfecting his craft. You need to adopt the same mindset.

Focus on your work and focus on being the best at what you do.

Stop settling for being second. It’s first place or it’s nothing. Second place just means that you were the first to lose.

6. Do you feel as if you are operating on a higher level?

When you look into the eyes of the opposition, do you see what they lack?

More importantly, do you possess what they lack?

Everyone has a dream; there are thousands if not millions of people who want to do what you want to do. But only a select few are going to be granted the privilege of waking up one morning and saying, “DAMN I’M LIVING THE DREAM.”

These folks have something the rest lack.

These folks do not operate on the same frequency as the mediocre.

They operate at a higher level. They work from a different state. It’s hard to put in words, but you’ll know if you have it because you’ll feel it in your heart and it will direct and guide you.

7. Do you feel as if you are unstoppable?

Do you feel like a train? Do you feel that you have something great inside of you which will in return make you defeat any and every obstacle that is in your path?

Do you feel as if it’s only a matter of time before you are crowned king?

If so, you are heading down the right path.

This is the level of confidence you need so keep it up.

You need to see yourself living the dream far before you actually achieve what you are after. Form your vision and stick with it. Don’t give up. Don’t quiver. Don’t shake. Don’t bend.

Give it to the world, have faith that you are moving towards success and one day your vision will become a reality.
