Who Controls Your Life?

Are you sitting in the driver’s seat of your own life?

Who’s controlling your life?

Are you running the ship or is someone else?

Be honest.

If you happen to be like most, you may notice that you are not in control of your destiny; instead you have left it in the hands of someone else.

You’ve become a puppet. Someone is controlling you.

You stopped making your own decisions. You lost your strong mindedness and instead you have begun to seek opinions from the external world instead of looking within.

This is in fact a problem as you may have guessed.

A lot of people, who feel fear, never accept responsibility for their own life.

Instead they leave their life and the chances of them succeeding in the hands of someone else.

What happens, happens is their philosophy. They are not at the controls. The reason they do this is because they’re scared. They’re frightened to lead their own life. I mean, it’s quite understandable. The world is uncertain and putting your own destiny in your own hands is frightening. What if you don’t have what it takes to succeed? What if you fail? What if you lose everything you worked so hard for?

These what if’s keep a lot of people from striking out on their own.

Regardless, if you want to do better than the average you have to accept responsibility for your own life.

You have to stop being a coward. I know it’s easier said than done, but you must strive to kill the fear you feel.

The greatest way to kill the fear is by strengthening your belief in yourself.

Trust yourself.

Know that you will make it out of any and every situation. No matter how tough the tides get, believe in your ability to muster through.

If you do, you will not only begin to control your own destiny, but you’ll lead your life in the direction that the average cannot even fathom.

I like using the serial entrepreneur, Richard Branson as an example because this man truly controls his own destiny.

His life is one big adventure. No matter what he’s doing, he’s sitting in the driver’s seat.

If you don’t know who he is, he’s a self-made, billionaire entrepreneur.

People like Richard show us that once we begin to control our own ship, we can dare to do the impossible. We can become great. But none of this will ever happen if you let fear destroy you.

It’s true, you can let the coward who lives within you, defeat you and in return you can opt out and live a safe, mediocre life.

You can put your destiny in the hands of someone else. Maybe your boss or your business partner or whoever. But if you do, not only will you live a very dull life, but something will be missing inside you.

Something will be missing because you’ll be like the kid who took tons of swimming lessons, but never had the guts to take a leap off the diving board. You’ll be that kid because you’ll be filled with, WHAT IF’S. You will never know if you would’ve sunk or if you would’ve swam.

On the other hand, those who control their own destiny, risk being a failure, but the upside is definitely worth it. The upside is worth it because that’s where greatness and massive success reside.

Hence although this path is much more frightening, it’s a heck of a lot more rewarding than living a mediocre life.

So if you believe in yourself, take the world by storm.

Control your own destiny. NO. I mean actually control it.

Right now you may just be going with the flow, blindly following the events of your life.

Stop letting life diktat.

Instead become the cause instead of the effect.

I end this article with a simple message…

The days of being dependent on others are long gone. It’s your life and it’s in your hands. Either you’re a king, a queen or you’re a pawn. Become self reliant and lead your own life. I know it’s scary, but you know what’s scarier? Having someone else lead your life in the direction you despise. Jim Rohn said it best when he stated…

“If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.”
