There are fundamentals to everything whether it be basketball or picking up garbage. Things you abide by. Things you have to learn or do in order to make the process as smooth as possible. Success is no different. If you want to succeed in life, you’re going to need your fundamentals.
These fundamentals however are not as clear cut as say the fundamentals regarding some sports. The fundamentals for success aren’t going to be found in no handbook. You’re not going to be able to find them easy. You’re going to have to learn the things to do and the things not to do through trial and error. This is where failure comes into play. Failing at something isn’t bad at all. It’s not failure at all. Instead it’s feedback. Failure tells you that what you’re doing now isn’t working therefore you’re going to have to change things up.
You’re going to have to approach things from a different perspective. Hence when you hit a roadblock, there really isn’t any point in getting discouraged. The only purpose of that roadblock on the route to success is to inform you to take a time out and reexamine the current route you’re taking to your destination. That route may need some changing. This is the only purpose of failure.
With that stated, failure is one of the fundamentals of success. Seems a bit counter intuitive, but I’m a strong believer in one failing before succeeding. As long as you’re failing forward and always continuing, you’re just stacking up failures until you succeed. That’s really what it is.
As long as you’re learning and CHANGING something you will eventually reach success. You’ll eventually travel down the right road and in return reach success.
Therefore you truly have to change the way you view failure. Take any successful person and you will notice that they failed NUMEROUS times before succeeding. It’s all apart of the game.
Take this blog for example. There have been days when it receives thousands and thousands of views and other days when it barely makes it over 100. It’s all feedback. The key is to not get caught up with the highs and lows instead I take the feedback and make adjustments.
Now lets examine some more fundamentals.
Before you read the fundamentals below I’d like to point out these are the fundamentals that I view to be of importance and the fundamentals that I think majority of the successful share.
The Fundamentals Of Success
1. Love What You Do
– Master your craft: Be consumed in your work. If what you do isn’t on your mind all day long, you truly don’t have a passion for it. You have to REALLY REALLY love what you do. Otherwise you’ll simply quit when the going gets tough.
– Would you do it if you weren’t getting paid for it?
2. Have To Be Patient, It’s A Process, Wait Your Turn
As long as you’re working and making progress, success will come. Believe. There are going to be days when things aren’t looking so good and you’re going to be down in the dumps. This is normal. It’s all apart of the process. After all, success wouldn’t feel so good if it wasn’t for failure.
3. Ground Up
Lay one brick down at a time. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Cliche, yes, but it’s true.
4. Learn From Everybody
People on this earth have gained a lot of wisdom, learn from them. The people that go on to achieve tons in this world are the ones that are always asking questions and are eager to soak up knowledge from those that have come before them.
5. Follow Your Gut
Your heart and your mind already know where you want to go in life. You may not know it, yet, but your soul does. Listen to your instincts. I’m not saying you should follow your gut all the time, but don’t ignore it. Your intuition will direct you where you ultimately want to be.
