How To Stay Hungry For Success

Yesterdays article talked about the importance of escaping your comfort zone. This one is a tad bit similar. Today’s article is going to talk about how we can stay hungry for success, no matter what. I think the reason why many people don’t become successful in life is because they aren’t hungry enough. They let the daily grind that life throws their way eat them up and they settle. In order to achieve success, you have to want it badder than the next person. Therefore, in order for this to occur you have to be more hungrier than the rest. It’s pretty damn tough staying hungry at all times. I mean, especially once you encounter some success in life, this usually leads to people settling in life. Instead of continually chasing the dream they stop short because the hunger is no longer there. The money or fame or whatever it is begins to blind them and strips away their hunger for success. This is a fucking tragic ha :( . But hopefully, you won’t be one of these people, instead if you follow the specfiic strategy that I am going to share with you in this article then you shouldn’t be confined to this problem. Instead your hunger should be prevalent at all times. Day in and day out in every endeavor.

I’m going to cut straight to the point and give you the strategy that I apply.

How To Stay Hungry
It is obvious that hungry individuals have a much greater chance in achieving their dreams, therefore it is a must that you learn how to stay hungry no matter how much success life throws your way. Not only success, but every time you encounter a failure you should be even more hungrier to overcome that failure. You shouldn’t let failure discourage you, but I think that is already nailed into your head. Not too many people shed light on the effects of small successes. Small successes usually result in you becoming less hungrier.

J.Cole one of my favorite rappers said it best in his song ‘Sideline Story’ as he stated…

“Money comes fast so being hungry don’t last, till you look in the mirror and you saw who you was.”

Now this is one of the ways in which you can go about in trying to stay hungry for success. In fact this is one of the most commonest ways people stay desperate for much more success. They remain humble and don’t let the money get to them. They remain true to their core and don’t switch up. The person who starts acting like a whole different individual is the one who has let his/her success go straight to their head and won’t be experiencing any more success in life…anytime soon. This is a great mindset to apply to your life after you become successful, or somewhat successful. Use this mindset with the strategy that I am going to share with you and your hunger level shall remain at an all time high.

The Hunger Strategy
I can’t take credit for this strategy at all. In fact, I actually got the inspiration to apply this strategy into my life from a rap song. Pretty damn weird eh :) ha. Anyways, the strategy came about in Jay Z’s song ‘My First Song’, however it was expressed by the legend Notorious BIG.

Without further ado, here is the strategy, in the words of Notorious B.I.G.

“I’m just, tryin to stay above water you know
Just stay busy, stay workin
Puff told me like, the key to this joint
The key to staying, on top of things
Is to treat everything like it’s your first project, know what I’m saying?
Like it’s your first day like back when you was an intern
Like, that’s how you try to treat things like, just stay hungry.”

That is the key in staying hungry in life. To treat everything like its your first day on the job.

What Does This Mean?
Let’s say that your a professional basketball player or your a garbage man. Whatever you are you need to work each day like its your first day on the job. Whether its your first game and you have the world on your shoulders and have to prove all the doubters wrong. Or if your that garbage man and you have to compete for that job. You have to work each day as if it’s your first day. Simply put, you need to work as if your an intern. What I mean by this is you need to work as if your battling for a job, as if your battling to get a pay cheque to feed your family. If you continue to think like this then your hunger will never decline instead it will be high as hell.

Success Is All About Mindset
You may have noticed that the successful have a different mindset then the average person. They apply small strategies to their mindset like the one that I just mentioned and it forms a unique mindset that is destined to achieve greatness. It’s time that you start building up your own mindset for success. Start by adapting this strategy into your mindset. Build up your mindset will each skill that you need. For example, this strategy is specifically designed for staying hungry in life. You can find other strategies for staying confident in life such as the fake it till you make it mentality. Start nurturing these small strategies as they serve into the bigger picture and form your mindset. This mindset is what makes you achieve success in life. Like I said, the only thing that separates the successful from the non successful is their mindset. Nothing else, no skills, no talents, no gifts, just mindset. That’s what I truly believe and I think is reflected in the collection of the successful. For example, compare the mindset of Donald Trump to that of the average man. Do they share the same beliefs, strategies, etc? Nope. It’s all mindset baby, start nurturing your own.

Hey, thanks for the post. I used to be hungry all the time–determined to prove myself, but most of that hunger vanished over the past few years.

Came by this blog because I knew I needed to–wanted to–be hungry for success. It really is hard, but this is helping.
