Do You Want To Go Down As A Winner?
|June 18, 2013||Posted by admin under Questions to Ask Yourself|
Let’s face it; no one wants to be labelled a loser or a failure. We all want to win, we all want to be winners. When it’s all said and done, you want to go down as someone who won at the game of life. You don’t want to be yet another individual who couldn’t bring his/her dreams to reality. Instead you want to belong to the elite category of winners.
It’s interesting to note that winners are different from losers. They differ in major ways and these differences are greatly responsible for their successes. Winners think differently, act differently, and they carry themselves in a different manner. When you spot a winner, you know. When you spot a loser, you also know.
Upon meeting someone, you can tell right away if that person is a winner or if that person is a loser. This is the case because for the most part winners are strong minded, confident, upbeat individuals, whereas losers are unenthusiastic, easily swayed, and lackluster individuals.
Those are the traits that distinguish a winner from a loser on the surface.
If you dig a little deeper, you’ll become aware of some major differences that exist beneath the surface and I present to you those differences below.
1. Winners never quit, quitters never win
Simply put a winner wins in life because a winner does not call it quits. If you refuse to give up, you refuse to fail. By refusing to fail and continuing on your journey, you still have a chance of manifesting your dream. Winners know this and hence they never give up on their dreams. They will find a way, it doesn’t matter what they are up against or what the challenge at hand is, they will overcome and they will surpass the present obstacle.
Winners rise to the occasion when the going gets tough, whereas losers become discouraged and swayed by others opinion.
It’s interesting to note that the number one thing that makes up a winner is FAILURE.
That’s right, failure.
Failure goes into success.
Failure goes into winning.
Hence when a winner fails, he/she does not get discouraged. A winner simply…
2. Seeks gold from dirt
When a loser loses, he/she gets agitated and becomes frustrated.
When a winner loses, he/she learns and sees possibilities.
A winner learns from his/her failures. A winner does not let failure be the end all be all. A winner learns and applies the lessons towards his/her next shot.
Look at any successful person who went on to achieve major success and you will see that they all had to deal with some major failures along the way.
Donald Trump filed for bankruptcy four times, Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team, and Steve Jobs was fired from the company that he created.
The above are indeed some devastating blows; however winners refuse to give in because they’re stubborn, they don’t let one bad day impact the rest of their life.
Compare this attitude to the attitude of an average person.
What would happen if a mediocre Joe went bankrupt ONCE let alone four times? Would that mediocre Joe continue to launch new business ventures? OR would that mediocre Joe grow discouraged, give up on his/her dreams and run back to the safe, 9-5 grind?
I can tell you from firsthand experience that for the most part they call it quits. They let the obstacles at hand keep them from achieving their dreams. They can’t deal with the stresses that come along with the failures, whereas winners rise and meet the challenges head on.
If you want to win the game of life, you have to know how to deal with the dark days because you are going to have some dark days.
You have to learn how to keep your head clear and leveled especially when your world has been turned upside down.
If you keep your head on straight during these tough times and keep your winners mentality alive, you will overcome and you will achieve your dreams. The trick is to beat failure instead of letting failure beat you.
Seek gold from dirt. See opportunity. Learn from your mistakes and see how there is infinite possibility. Sure you may have failed. Sure people may look at you as if they were right, however as long as your heart is beating, you still have a chance. You still have a chance of making your dream a reality.
Keep the faith alive and continue. Brush yourself off, tie your shoes, and continue the marathon of success.
And lastly, another major difference between winners and losers is…
3. Winners win in practice
Winning is done before the main event.
Winning is done behind closed doors.
Winning is done in the gym.
Winning is done in your home office.
Simply put, winners win during the preparation stage. Whether it be preparing a presentation for your boss or practicing for the Olympics, you have to win in practice. You have to perfect your craft and increase your hustle during practice. You have to give it everything you have during the preparation stage.
If you devote everything you got during practice, when the real thing arrives you’ll make it seem effortless.
I mean look at the greats such as Kobe Bryant. Think about Kobe in the clutch, fourth quarter, 10 seconds left, down by two, Lakers ball.
What does Kobe do?
Kobe delivers and he does so in an effortless manner.
Sure, talent has a lot to do with it, but do you know why Kobe delivers? Because he perfected that same shot for countless hours in practice. He practiced what he was going to do in the clutch while everyone else was sleeping, partying, watching TV. He simply put in the work during the preparation stage.
The next time you see the greats on your television set and you say, “Damn he made it look so easy.” Remember that it was hard in practice. It didn’t come easy in practice, hard work and dedication was required in order to give you the impression of it being effortless.
Now I want you to think back to when you were in school. Remember exams? The person who got the highest mark was the person who studied effectively and efficiently. The person who put in time and studied. If you didn’t study, there wasn’t really anything you could do during the test. If you didn’t prepare, you were going to fall flat on your face.
The same principle applies to life.
You have to hustle when the camera is off so you can shine when the light turns on.
Losers are simply unwilling to do so. They fall victim to short term gratification. They get blinded by shiny objects. Instead of putting in work, they are out drinking or are engaged in pointless activities such as gossiping. Don’t get me wrong, there is a time and a place for everything, but when it comes to your dreams, you have to sacrifice and you have to put your dreams first. After all, that’s what winners do and you want to be a winner RIGHT?
Now that you are aware of what makes up a winner, it’s time for you to branch out and lead your life towards the winners circle.
